Meditation Secrets for Women by Camille Maurine and Lorin Roche (author of Meditation Made Easy) offers some welcoming Q&A at end of its "Introduction":
- Do I have to slow down?
- No. Let your mind move as fast as it wants.
- What if I think the entire time?
- For people with busy lives, meditation often feels that way. Accept your thoughts and keep coming gently back to the focus.
- How much effort do I make in meditation?
- Slightly less than the effort of moving your eyes to read this sentence.
- What about outside noise?
- There is almost always outside noise, but it is not a problem. Think of it as the music of life. It is part of the rhythm of meditation to hear outside sound and then return to the focus.
- What if I fall asleep?
- Almost everybody has a sleep deficit, so most people nod off for a few minutes in every meditation.
- Is meditation at all dangerous?
- It’s about as risky as sitting on your sofa, and probably less dangerous than watching TV.
